“Pink Dome” gives a view of Griffith Observatory from a distance. This was shot at sunrise as I made my way up the hill. The sun was just barely coming up, and everything was still in silhouette. I pulled my car over to get this shot before there was too much light that would change the mood. I love how it feels like night, but it’s really first thing in the morning. I added pink and orange light leaks to this piece to infuse the essence of the coming sunrise. There is also a grainy overlay to give this piece a vintage photo feel.
This image was shot in Los Feliz, California in 2026.
